چکیده

GenBank (R) is a comprehensive sequence database that contains publicly available DNA sequences for more than 119 000 different organisms, obtained primarily through the submission of sequence data from individual laboratories and batch submissions from large-scale sequencing projects. Most submissions are made using the BankIt (web) or Sequin programs and accession numbers are assigned by GenBank staff upon receipt. Daily data exchange with the EMBL Data Library in the UK and the DNA Data Bank of Japan helps ensure worldwide coverage. GenBank is accessible through NCBI's retrieval system, Entrez, which integrates data from the major DNA and protein sequence databases along with taxonomy, genome, mapping, protein structure and domain information, and the biomedical journal literature via PubMed. BLAST provides sequence similarity searches of GenBank and other sequence databases. Complete bimonthly releases and daily updates of the GenBank database are available by FTP. To access GenBank and its related retrieval and analysis services, go to the NCBI home page at: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov.

Many Genbank Entries for Complete Microbial Genomes Violate the Genbank Standard

A survey of Genbank entries for complete microbial genomes reveals that the majority do not conform to the Genbank standard. Typical deviations from the Genbank standard include records with information in incorrect fields, addition of extraneous and confusing information within a field, and omission of useful fields. This situation results from two principal causes: genome centres do not submi...

System Position and Divergent Time of Based on ITS Sequence Humulus scandens

This article mainly studied Humulus scandens’ ITS sequence, its system position and its divergent time. ITS is 624 bp with a GC percentage content of 57.21%. It only has the variation in 585 (C changes T), systematic position in Humulus lupulus (GenBank: EF136401) and Humulus scandens (GenBank: FJ980285), Humulus lupulus (GenBank: DQ005990), with Humulus scandens (GenBank: FJ980285), Humulus lu...

The GenBank genetic sequence databank

The GenBank Genetic Sequence Data Bank contains nearly 15,000 entries for DNA and RNA sequences that have been reported since 1967. This paper briefly describes the contents of the database, the forms in which the data are distributed, and the services available to scientists using the GenBank database.

Promoter Extraction from GenBank (PEG): automatic extraction of eukaryotic promoter sequences in large sets of genes

UNLABELLED Promoter Extraction from GenBank (PEG) extracts promoter sequences for large sets of genes using information present in GenBank. For a gene whose promoter sequence is not found, PEG will attempt to extract promoter sequences of the orthologous genes instead. AVAILABILITY It is freely available to academic users at ftp://cshl.org/pub/science/mzhanglab/theresa/. CONTACT zhangt@cshl...
